Summary

Please note: This is a pool position. No guarantee of hours.

 

This position is for students currently enrolled in nursing school. Must work minimum of 72 hours per quarter.

 

Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients, and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the patient and/or unit. May also be utilized as a Bedside Assistant, observing, interacting with and providing care to patients requiring 1:1 supervision.

Essential Functions

  1. Perform related assignments and tasks as requested in order to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations.
  2. Provides high quality patient care in a caring and compassionate manor. Reports any observed change in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nurse. Ensures patient care tasks are completed timely.
  3. Performs or assists with duties as outlined in the CNA Scope of Practice under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  4. Maintains a clean and safe environment for patient and staff according to hospital and unit policies.
    • Demonstrates competence in providing care routines in accordance with established nursing care procedure to ensure patients' comfort and safety.
    • Takes and records vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements as applicable, in an accurate and timely manner. Reports all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient.
    • Obtains finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN unless working in an area where this is prohibited.
    • Prepares patients for meals, assists in feeding patients (if necessary), distributes fresh water and other nourishment according to patients’ needs.
    • Assists patients with elimination needs.
    • Ambulates/Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques.
    • Assists nurse in treatment procedures as needed.
    • Documents accurately and timely in the patient medical record.
  1. Actively participates in quality improvement programs.
  2. Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.
  3. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program and:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active WA certified CNA license.
  • Eligible to obtain Medical Assistant: Registered certification where applicable (application completed during the hiring process).
  • Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
