Job Summary:

  • The Surgical Care Unit registered nurse provides post-operative patient care, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, coordinating with the surgical team, and managing patient education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and surgical procedure. 
  • Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and other clinical parameters throughout the surgical process. 
  • Administer medications as prescribed, including pre-operative medications and post-operative pain management. 
  • Manage post-operative complications such as nausea, pain, bleeding, and vital sign instability. 
  • Provide patient education regarding post-operative care instructions and wound management. 
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with the surgical team, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals. 
  • Report any patient concerns or changes in condition promptly. 
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. 

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as an RN, State of Oregon.
  • Current BLS.
  • Two years acute care experience preferred.

Ensures accurate documentation for patient’s continued hospital stay is established and maintained, coordinates necessary changes with attending physician and other team members as necessary to achieve optimal care and reimbursement.
