Overview

This position is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of the unit patient. This position requires knowledge of departmental and hospital policies relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive, and consultative associations are inherent in this position.

Responsibilities

Documents medications given appropriately and in a timely manner. Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team. Technical Skills. Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills and technical competence in providing patient care. Critical Thinking. Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment. Documents patient assessments accurately and correctly within the specified time at admission, transfer, and discharge. Assess patient safety facts and identifies those patients requiring specific safety devices. Evaluates test results in a timely manner and notifies physician. Reports critical values immediately. Educational needs of patient. Assesses educational needs and documents appropriately. Provides appropriate written and verbal instructions. Transcription of orders - transcribes orders accurately and timely. Prioritization. Prioritizes responsibilities and issues, taking into account urgency and patient needs. Seeks appropriate resources. Uses independent thinking and problem solving. Collects adequate and correct blood/urine specimens from patients as ordered by physicians, using proper technique and equipment. Correctly labels specimens and processes. Ensures appropriate delivery of specimens to the lab via courier or specimen pick up from outside agencies.

Qualifications

Must complete Point of Care Testing training as part of Department Orientation.

Job Description The Lead Registered Nurse (RN) - Ambulatory is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family-centered care. The Lead Registered Nurse serves as a resource to the clinical staff in the ambulatory setting. The Lead RN assists the Nurse Manager / Office Manager by providing clinical oversight and direction that ensures the safety and quality of the care provided to patients and families. In consultation with the Nurse Manger/Office Manager, the Lead RN monitors the ongoing clinical performance of clinical associates which includes registered professional nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants and other unlicensed assistive personnel. Provides necessary coaching, and collaborates with the Nurse Manager/Office Manager and Physician in Charge to facilitate the day to day clinical operations of the office.
