Director of Nursing Surgical Services

JOB SUMMARY Dir Surgical Services is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the full spectrum of surgical patient care for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH), which includes all clinical and nursing care in surgery preparation units, operating rooms, post-anesthesia care units, telemetry units, outpatient surgery suites, or other patient holding/receiving surgical areas. Directs, organizes, and evaluates all patient care services provided in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative surgical areas in BSWH hospitals, clinics, or ambulatory care facilities. May direct and coordinate a variety of clinical duties, including cleanliness and safety of surgical environments, control of medications, preparation and post-care of surgical patients, and management of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. Establishes and communicates the clinical goals and objectives for assigned surgical units or area of responsibility in accordance with the BSWH overall patient care goals and objectives. Develops and implements surgical services policies, procedures, and practices to ensure high quality surgical outcomes and improve surgical patient experience. Negotiates interdepartmental resources and communicates with other BSWH clinical departments to ensure effective and efficient delivery of surgical care.
