Summary Statement

This position provides nursing and oversight of residents’ nursing needs during trips, community outing activities, and in-house activities including, but not limited to, direct nursing care, assessments, and coordination of health care services for the residents. Responsibilities include supervising, providing, evaluating, and assisting with care and treatments by direct care staff and activities staff. In addition, this position will have regular contact with residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, dietary, pharmacy, administration, and other ancillary departments of the facility.

Essential Functions

• Administers treatments as directed.
• Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration).
• Pours, administers, charts and records medications.
• Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations.
• Observes patient behavior and condition and reports changes to appropriate staff.
• Records information on patients' charts.

Job Requirement Series

JOB REQUIREMENTS For Licensed Practical Nurse I

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

• Possession of a Delaware Practical Nurse license, Delaware temporary license or multi-state compact license.

JOB REQUIREMENTS For Licensed Practical Nurse II

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

• Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
• At least six months' experience as a Practical Nurse.

JOB REQUIREMENTS For Licensed Practical Nurse III

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

• Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
• At least eighteen months' experience as a Practical Nurse.

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.

Conditions of Hire

All new hires are required to attend an in-person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment. The session will be held at a designated location in either Kent or New Castle County.

A satisfactory criminal background check is required and must be covered by the applicant, with an estimated cost of $85.00. Pre-employment drug testing is also required. Additionally, all new hires are required to complete a 2-Step TB/PPD test, which will be administered on their first day at the facility.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
