Position Summary: An admission nurse is the first point of contact between a patient and the hospital. In this position, pre-admission screening to provide a complete medical assessment is one of your primary duties. You collect a medical history of the patient and ensure that they have completed all necessary forms and insurance obligations. Other duties as assigned.

Exercises independent judgment supervising the staff involved in providing nursing care and in the oversight of clinical areas during after- hours. Works closely with all members of the treatment team and keeps both the physicians, Administrator-On-Call (AOC) and DON informed of issues that arise. Controls FTEs and arranges staffing for nursing units in accordance with staffing grids, census and patient acuity.
