RN School Contract

A full-time Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Blue Springs, MO, providing comprehensive school nursing services within a local school district. This role primarily supports a 4th-grade special needs student who requires specialized care, including G-tube feeding, seizure management, and wheelchair assistance. The nurse will meet the student daily for transportation to and from school and provide care at an elementary school setting. Flexibility to work across all grade levels (PreK-12) within the district is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized nursing care to a special needs student with complex medical requirements.
  • Manage and operate the school health clinic, often independently making clinical decisions.
  • Provide nursing care and health assessments across various school sites when the primary student is not in attendance.
  • Utilize electronic charting systems to document care and maintain accurate health records.
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to support student health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Active and unencumbered Missouri RN license (verified through Nursys with no restrictions).
  • Recent experience in pediatrics, preferably in ICU, ER, or school nursing settings.
  • Ability to confidently manage complex medical needs and work independently.
  • Proficient with technology and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with a flexible schedule and working with students across PreK-12 levels.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position based in Blue Springs, MO, no travel outside the district.
  • Work hours approximately 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM Monday through Friday.
  • Primary worksite is an elementary school, with potential assignments across other schools in the district.
