Job Overview

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CA) assists patients and families by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needs. The CA provides comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring. In addition, the CA supports and assists nursing personnel and other providers in diagnostic procedures and technical treatments and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The Level 8 Inpatient Medical Unit is a dynamic 48-bed general medical unit serving a wide variety of patient populations from birth to early adulthood. We specialize clinically in the areas of digestive health, renal disorders, infectious diseases, behavioral health, endocrine and metabolic disorders, and immune deficiencies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attends to the individual needs of patients, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, providing comfort and communicating patient needs with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs various tasks as assigned, including checking vital signs, weighing patients, applying creams/ointments, applying/changing dressings and collecting specimens.
  • Meets patient needs by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to healthcare team members.
  • Serves as a conduit between patients and other healthcare providers by recording and communicating all issues to medical team members.
  • Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Stores and prepares rooms and medical equipment for patient and healthcare team member use.
  • Participates in departmental committees and projects as assigned.

Schedule: Full Time (3 - 12hr shifts per week)

Shift: Nights (6:45pm - 7:15am)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • High School diploma or GED
  • Equivalency
    • Proof of successful completion of health assessment and nursing foundation courses, in addition to basic medical/surgical clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program may be considered in lieu of designation as a CNA, MA and/or EMT.
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.
    • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), and/or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license is required.
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $20.00 to $25.09
