PeaceHealth is seeking a RN - Labor & Delivery for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Night position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $49.30 – $77.46. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Essential Functions

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Accredited School of Nursing Required: Nursing
Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Additional Education Preferred: acute care perinatal nursing

Experience

Three years Required: Labor & Deliver or postpartum acute care nursing experience within the last 10 years. Labor & Delivery or postpartum acute care CNA experience, 30 CEUs in perinatal nursing within the last year, 200 hours perinatal clinical experience within the last two years and/or a formal perinatal training program within the last two years may substitute for some of all of this requirement OR successful completion of an approved training course/orientation and standard competencies within six months of hire.
Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Required: Registered Nurse
Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support
Required: ACLS and NRP at date of hire. AHWONN intermediate Fetal Monitoring within six months of hire, renew every three years.

Working Conditions

Lifting

Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

Comprehensively assesses patients’ goals as well as their biophysical, psychosocial, environmental and discharge planning needs and financial status. Identifies key problems, strengths and resources to be addressed in the discharge plan of care, including needed resources post-discharge. Coordinates and facilitates those services. Ensures accurate documentation for patient’s continued hospital stay is established and maintained, coordinates necessary changes with attending physician and other team members as necessary to achieve optimal care and reimbursement. Communicates proactively and adeptly with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure hospital and community resources are appropriately and effectively utilized on behalf of patients and their families. Facilitates interdisciplinary team meetings to improve quality, decrease cost and improve patient satisfaction. Coordinates documentation and clarifies necessary details with Patient Financial Services to assist in decreasing denials.
