Certified Surgical Tech at Surgi-Center of Central VA

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team.

Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures.
Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures.
Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center.
Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED;
Completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Certification as required by state and/or center
Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center (HOSC) is currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team. Eligible for a Sign-on Bonus, up to $5k Service lines include orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, pain management, ENT, GYN, General Surgery, and Plastic Surgery. Additionally, we perform pediatric surgery on patients ranging in age from 6 months to 17 years of age. The majority of our surgeons are part of the Pennsylvania State Health System, and are all Academic Professors of Medicine in their unique fields, so the right candidate should take a high interest in assisting our attending surgeons in the training of our multiple Fellows, Surgical Residents and Medical Students in an academic teaching environment. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team, and is open and willing to train and mentor new staff and surgical residents/medical students.
