Mercy Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a family-focused, state-of-the-art unit with leading-edge, critical care technology and one of the finest multidisciplinary critical care teams. Caregivers in the ICU provide critical care for patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries and have either sustained or are at risk of suffering the failure of one or more vital functions, systems, or organs. Patients in the ICU require rigorous care and monitoring to reverse their near-fatal conditions and temporarily support them while they recover. Types of procedures on this unit include intubation, TTM, CRRT, bronchoscopy, ICP monitoring, organ donation, and post-operative care. A caregiver in this position works varying nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including rotating weekends and holidays. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.  

  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)  

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within first year of employment 

  • External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience 

  • Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval 

  • Will consider military RN experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Part-Time Registered Nurse

The Care Manager (CM) will manage a small caseload of private pay clients, provide coordination of services, resources and ongoing monitoring and management to clients in their home. This can include clients who are residents of Independent Living, Assisted Living or Nursing Facilities. Additionally, the Care Manager will help drive business and work with referral sources. Develops strong relationships with Community and professional organizations that will generate client referrals.
