Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a per diem Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Acute Psych Services Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The primary purpose of the per diem Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to provide technical nursing care to pediatric through adult populations. Performs treatments and procedures within established guidelines and provides a safe and therapeutic environment.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Participates in data collection related to patient status and needs.
- Provides input to Registered Nurses for incorporation into the plan of care by communicating information pertinent to the patient’s status.
- Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.
- Informs and instructs patient/significant others on patient’s health/illness state and plan of care.
- Assists patients/significant others in preparation for discharge and health maintenance in the home.
- Documents all aspects of patient care.
- Contacts insurance companies for certification and recertification of patients.
- Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
