Overview
Rate: $40-45/Hr
The Registered Nurse (R.N.) provides clinical oversight to a multi-disciplinary team. The Nurse is responsible to ensuring the program works with individuals in a recovery focused manner adhering to the agency philosophy standards of the Advocates Way and Intentional Care Standards and meets all CCS requirements. They monitor all medical needs of people in the program and liaison with health care providers of the people using the program.

- Review, maintain and update medical information in each file and ensure medication systems in the program are up to agency standards.
- Promote community inclusion and self-advocacy.
- Provide emergency first aid and direct staff in the case of a medical crisis.
- Collaborate with CCS director, clinicians, CBHC nursing, providers, and on-call psychiatrist regarding any medical and/or medication issues that may arise at time of referral or when admitted to CCS.
- Develop and train all staff regarding medication and medical protocols as necessary and ensure the implementation and follow-through.
- Administer all medications as prescribed by the health care provider.
- Ensure medical services including VNA are set up for discharge. Provide structured opportunities for workshops for individuals to learn about health-related matters.
- Ensure program meets safety standards and a home-like, recovery-supported environment is maintained.
- Attend and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings.
- Provide case management as needed during on-site care and prior to leaving.
- Assist with transition to alternative levels of care including completing all necessary paperwork.
- Adhere to all principles related to The Advocates Way.
- Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Human Rights Policy.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Current, state of MA, registration in nursing and 1 year of experience in a community health care setting.
- Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
- Demonstrate an interest in working with people diagnosed with mental health diagnoses.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with consumers, families, funding sources, consultants, the community at large, and the program and administrative staff.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must hold a valid drivers’ license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport people served by the program.
