Overview
We are currently accepting applications through February 6, 2026, for the next Medical Assistant Training Program starting on March 2, 2026 in the Lebanon, NH classroom. $2,500 sign on bonus for eligible hires.
As a medical assistant trainee, you will begin your role with 12-weeks of paid training through the Dartmouth Health Career Institute (DHCI) where you'll gain the required education and skills to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.
Once the training program is successfully completed, you will join the clinical team in one of the Lebanon, NH Dartmouth Health outpatient clinics as a medical assistant apprentice. Under the mentorship of a clinical preceptor, you will gain on-the-job experience performing clinical duties such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, point of care testing (ear lavage, EKG, urine dip testing, urine pregnancy testing, bladder scanning, and many more), medication/vaccination injections, assisting the clinician with procedures in clinic as well as the keeping up with the general functions of the clinic such as cleaning, stocking supplies and quality and safety reviews. MAs also do administrative functions such as prior authorizations, medication refills and dressing supply orders.

Responsibilities
This posting is for the DHCI training program that will take place from the Lebanon, NH location. Clinic placement will be in the Lebanon, NH region.
Training to become a medical assistant begins with a 12-week program in which you will complete 7 college-level accelerated courses to obtain required health sciences, professional and technical skills education through the Dartmouth Health Career Institute (DHCI).
Successful trainees then sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Exam administered by the National Heathcareer Association (NHA) and move into a clinical setting as a full-time Medical Assistant Apprentice to complete a 2,000-hour Registered Apprenticeship through the US Department of Labor to gain more skills and competencies with on-the-job training and mentorship.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team.
- Computer skills strongly preferred.
- Must be willing to complete all class activities and assignments as scheduled which may include evenings and weekends.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire date.
