Overview
Beebe Healthcare is growing, and our Specialty Surgical Hospital is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse II to support high-quality surgical and orthopedic care across both our Rehoboth Surgical Unit and the Lewes Orthopedic Unit. This is a full-time, day shift position, ideal for nurses who bring compassion, teamwork, and strong clinical judgment to every shift and thrive in a collaborative care environment.
In this flexible, hands-on role, you’ll care for post-surgical and orthopedic patients, complete thorough assessments, implement timely interventions, and collaborate closely with our interdisciplinary team. You’ll play a key role in supporting safe recovery, patient education, and exceptional outcomes. Nurses in this position will be trained and competent to rotate between both units, ensuring seamless, high-quality patient care systemwide.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered nursing care to post-surgical and orthopedic patients, ensuring comfort, safety, and optimal recovery outcomes.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes to the appropriate members of the healthcare team.
Clinical Judgment & Time Management
- Prioritize patient care responsibilities effectively using strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and time management skills.
- Adapt quickly to changing patient needs in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Documentation & Safety
- Accurately document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the electronic medical record.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, infection prevention guidelines, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe care environment.
Patient & Family Education
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care, medications, mobility, and recovery expectations.
- Support confident discharge planning by reinforcing instructions and ensuring understanding.
Team Collaboration & Delegation
- Delegate tasks appropriately and provide supervision, guidance, and support to nursing assistants and other support staff.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
Professional Development & Quality Improvement
- Participate in unit-based councils, shared governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competency and support evidence-based practice.
Qualifications
- Acute care/hospital experience
- Strong communication, teamwork, and EMR skills
- Orthopedic Nurse Certification (ONC) preferred
Credentials
- DE or Compact RN license
- BLS and NIH Stroke Certification
- ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
Education
- RN, Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
