PeaceHealth is seeking a RN Charge Nurse for the Operating Room at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington. This is a .80 FTE, Evening shift position working 8-hour shift, 3pm - 11:30pm.

The Charge Nurse assists the Manager/Director in coordinating unit activities which assure safe and clinically effective patient care. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of routine duties.

Job Description
PeaceHealth is seeking a RN Charge Nurse for the Operating Room at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington. This is a .80 FTE, Evening shift position working 8-hour shift, 3pm - 11:30pm.
We offer:
- A wage range of $56.15 – $81.39. Hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including RN work experience and terms of the WSNA collective bargaining agreement
- $2.50 evening shift differential
- Additional compensation for BSN, MSN, and specialty nursing certification

Essential Functions
- Coordinate patient care by shift and department.
- Supervision and assessment of clinical practice. Direct and delegate to other team members.
- Coach for performance to achieve individual and organizational goals; including orientation, competencies and evaluations.
- Develop the departmental team and collaborative relationships to achieve expected outcomes.
- Serve as a clinical and resource expert for the department.
- Articulate shift/team operational issues to management as appropriate.
- Appropriate stewardship of resources.
- Adapts decision-making style to the situation and level of authority for achieving an optimal outcome including using collaborative decision making and effective communication skills.
- Identify and apply opportunities for clinical practice improvement and support them with staff.
- Ensure professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Accredited School of Nursing Required
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Minimum of 2 years OR nursing experience required.
- 3 years Preferred: acute care nursing experience
- Required: Registered Nurse WA State
- Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Certification
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Demonstrated leadership skills (Required)
- Facilitation skills (Preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment (Required)
- Consistently demonstrates Service Excellence behaviors with patients, families and colleagues (Required)
- Able to support and interpret medical center’s philosophy, policies and procedures (Required)
- Ability to balance information regarding patient needs, staff needs, and unit needs in decision making (Required)

- Strong organizational skills (Required)
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Required)
Lifting
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
- Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
- Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
- Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
- Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
