A Brief Overview
Responsible for managing staffing and scheduling, including hiring and evaluations. Accountable for clinical orientation and provision of ongoing clinical in-service training and competency evaluation for float pool clinical associates. Oversees unit or department-based assessment, planning, development, implementation, evaluation of educational programs that enhance the performance and professional development of the float pool associates to achieve quality patient care and customer service. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Supports the Director in providing oversight for staffing and scheduling, including hiring and evaluations.
- Plans and schedules work ensuring distribution of assignments and adequate staffing based on workload and productivity standards.
- Participates in short and long term planning for program and associate development and resource and budget management.
- Designs, coordinates and maintains orientation and ongoing competencies for float pool associates while ensuring educational requirements are up to date to reflect current practice requirements.
- Assists in hiring and developing workforce while maintaining own management competencies.
- Promotes awareness and ensures Associates' compliance with safety standards.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Required - Master's Degree Nursing
- Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Nursing
Work Experience Requirements
- Required - General nursing or clinical practice 3-5 years
- Preferred - Progressive leadership
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated skill in personnel management and interpersonal relations.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and maintain relationships with individuals and groups of people toward accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of staffing, scheduling and productivity standards.
- Skilled in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including associates, management and providers.
- Ability to plan schedule tasks, projects and to maintain control of own and others' workflow.
- Knowledge of developing and implementing long-range plans and programs.
- Must consistently demonstrate strong analytical skills.
- Proficient in comprehension of educational theory and practices.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel) and experience with hospital scheduling systems.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- Manages assigned staff.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
