Intensive Care Unit 

Patient Population: Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Surgical, Medical, Cardiology, pulmonology, Trauma and Gastrointestinal. 

Patient Ratios: 1:2 

Number of Beds: 12 

Department Specifics: We are a small but mighty generalized ICU with training in specialty devices such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella and CRRT. This is a highly engaged team with a focus on high quality patient care and process improvement. The team has a robust shared governance with decision-making opportunities that leads to department process improvements and multidisciplinary collaboration. The hospital is Level III trauma, primary stroke center, and a primary heart attack center.

The ECMO ICU RN is competent in all mechanical circulatory devices including percutaneous and implantable ventricular assist devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy and ECMO. ECMO ICU Patient Population: All ECLS patients receiving VA, VV, VP, VA-V, RVAD and ECPR therapies. Disease processes including but not limited to post cardiotomy syndrome, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, pre and post heart/lung transplant, ARDS, and post cardiac arrest.
