Registered Nurse Clinical Manager - Operating Room Mainland - Full Time

Position Summary

The Clinical Manager ensures expert nursing care delivery providing staff education, consultation, evidence-based clinical practice, and leadership.

The Clinical Manager supervises staff in their daily activities to ensure the delivery of care according to established departmental policies and procedures. This position assists the Clinical Director with resolving staff issues, participating in performance reviews, monitoring budgetary practices, preparing staff schedules, developing and implementing performance improvement activities and orienting new employees to the unit.

The Clinical Manager serves as a key communicator for organizational updates, policy changes and education needs. This position establishes and maintains communication with physicians and other professionals to promote mutual understanding of problems and plans of care.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelor's in nursing or Allied Health required, Master's degree preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. BLS required. National Certification in specialty preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Meets qualifications as outlined for specialty. 3 years clinical experience required within specialty. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as leadership skills required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Emergency Room

Mainland and Kessler Satellite 2-4 years medical/surgical experience required; 2 years emergency room experience preferred. ACLS, and PALS or ENPC

Emergency Room

City 2-4 years medical/surgical experience required; 2 years emergency room experience preferred. TNCC, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC

Labor and Delivery 2-4 years labor and delivery experience required. NPR (NALS), required

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit/Intermediate Care Unit 2-4 years neonatal Intensive Care Unit experience required. NPR (NALS), required

Mother/Baby Unit 2-4 years mother/baby experience preferred. NPR (NALS), required

Operating Room Minimum 1 year medical/surgical experience desired; 1-2 years operating room experience required. CNOR required.

Critical Care 2-4 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS required

CCRN preferred

Medical/Surgical 1-2 Years Medical/surgical Experience Preferred. None

Dialysis 1-2 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 years dialysis experience preferred. ACLS preferred but not required

Psychiatry 1-2 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 years psychiatry experience preferred. Crisis intervention experience preferred for PIP.

Certified Prevention Intervention annual education preferred.

Cath Lab 1-2 years critical care, emergency room or telemetry experience required; 1 year cath-lab experience preferred.

ACLS required

Trauma 2-4 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 years trauma experience preferred. ACLS, TNCC required

Oncology 1 --2 years medical/surgical experience preferred. Chemotherapy experience preferred. Chemotherapy certification within 1 year from date of hire

Cancer Center 3 years of clinical Oncology Specialty experience required. Chemotherapy certification within 1 year from date of hire

Endoscopy Minimum 2 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 yrs. endoscopy, telemetry and critical care experience preferred. ACLS is preferred, CGRN preferred, CER (or CFER) preferred.

Cardiac Diagnostic

1 --2 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS is required

Central Monitoring 1 --2 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 years critical care experience preferred.

Advanced level of dysrhythmia interpretation required. ACLS is required

Pre-Admission Testing 1-3 Years Medical/surgical Experience Required. None

Prenatal, Perinatology and Family Planning 2-4 years experience in Women's Health inpatient/outpatient experience required. Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification preferred.

OB Certification preferred

Practice Management 1-2 Years Medical/surgical Experience Preferred.

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens along with infectious diseases. Physical demands include but are not limited to consideration stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment and excessive standing and walking. Lifting approximately 25-50 lbs. frequently; lifting 50-10 lbs. with assistance occasionally. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors.

UNIT POPULATIONS SERVED

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) serviced:

Bariatric Morbid obese adult with all comorbid illness/conditions, including but not limited to: cardiac/cardiovascular, metabolic; renal, pulmonary, etc.

Cath Lab Cardiac/vascular conditions and diseases including but not limited to: CAD, carotid stenosis, renal stenosis, PVD, etc.

Critical Care Acute medical/surgical care of skeletal muscular, renal

ortho conditions and diseases including but not limited to: AMI, CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, shock, renal failure, metabolic disorders, etc.

Behavioral Health Behavioral health illnesses including but not limited to bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, psychosis, etc..

Dialysis Patients with acute or chronic renal failure or chronic renal disease.

Endoscopy Chronic pain management, endoscopic procedures of cardiovascular, GI, pulmonary conditions and disease, etc..

Emergency Department Triage, assess and treat patients of all age presenting for emergency care for all body systems, conditions and diseases including but not limited to: coronary, pulmonary, neuro, skeletal muscular, GI/metabolic, GU/renal, GYN, integumentary, etc..

Intermediate Care Monitored post-surgical care including but not limited to neuro, GI, GU/GYN, peripheral vascular interventions, orthopedic procedures, etc.. Medical diagnoses including but not limited to: cardiac, pulmonary, neuron, GI, VCA/TIA and renal conditions, etc..

Medical Surgical Medical/Surgical diagnoses including but not limited to orthopedic, neuron, GI, GU/GYN, renal, metabolic, pulmonary systems and those requiring isolation/precautions.

Telemetry/Medical/Surgical Cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, GI conditions and diseases including not limited to: CAD, PVD, COPD, CHF, metabolic disorders, etc.

Telemetry/Stroke Cardiac/cardiovascular, neuron, renal, GI conditions and diseases including but not limited to: CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, metabolic disorders, etc.

Wound Care GI, GYN/GU, integumentary conditions and diseases including but not limited to all ostomy diversion surgeries, wound care, pressure sore/ulcer etc..

CLINICAL MANAGER IN RADIOLOGY

Radiology Skeletal and all body systems including but not limited to: pulmonary, cardiac/cardiovascular, GI, GU/GYN, oncology etc, during radiology exams.

CT Imaging with and without contrast of cardio-pulmonary, vascular, neuron, GI, GU, GYN, skeletal/muscular conditions and diseases including but not limited to: PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, HNP, oncology, etc..

Mammography Mammary disease and disorders.

MRI Cardiac/cardiovascular, mammary, GI, endocrine, renal, skeletal conditions and disease including but not limited to: CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, oncology, etc..

Nuclear Medicine Cardiac/cardiovascular, renal, skeletal, pulmonary conditions and diseases including but not limited to: CAD, PE, cholecytitis, oncology, etc..

Special Procedures Stents/decloting vascular, rental conditions and diseases including but not limited to PVD, renal, oncology, etc..

Ultrasound Cholecystitis, BPH, oncology, uterine fibroids, fetal ultrasound etc..

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
