Registered Nurse Operating Room Circulator Unit at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington:

Under the direct supervision of the Operating Room Coordinator and the OR Director, the RN is responsible for nursing activities related to the care of the patient experiencing an operative or other invasive procedure.
The RN is a resource person and provides guidance to non-licensed personnel.
The RN can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric and some pediatric patients.
The attached criteria-based performance evaluation provides a specific set of standards as they relate to age specific competency.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure/Certification:

Current Texas Nursing License.
Current CPR, ACLS
PALS preferred

Required Experience:

Minimum of two (2) previous OR experience required, hospital setting preferred.
Must have ortho and spine experience.
Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees
Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to operating room nurse
Clinically proficient in operating room nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient

What You Will Do In This Role You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease specific protocols. You will plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies. You will provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance and incorporate patient/family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice. You will supervise invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures as to adherence to aseptic and sterile technique. What Qualifications You Will Need Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing Associates Degree required at hire, Bachelors Degree required within 24 months of hire into an RN position if hired after 6/1/12 Current RN licensure in the State of TX or compact license Current BLS issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association ACLS required within 1 year of hire or transfer into position, issued by the America Red Cross or American Heart Association Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care hospital within the last 3 years Experience in Cath Lab and/or working with cardiac patients highly preferred Medical City Heart & Spine Hospitals are hospitals for specialized advanced cardiovascular and spine care.
