Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Toms River Surgery Center

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program
BLS certification
1+ years of Surgical Tech experience
Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

Pay Range: $35.00 - $39.00/hr (Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.)

Job Summary: A nticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Job Title: Scrub Technician Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Clinical Director. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 1. Efficiently and effectively assists physician with operative procedures · Anticipates surgeon/physician’s needs both in preparing for procedures and during procedure · Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations. 2. Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures. 3. Handles instruments in a manner which prolongs “life” of instrument.] 4. Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment. 5. Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Transports all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas. Assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets. 10. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background. 11. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. 12. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. 13. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. 14. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team. 15. Attends in services, conferences, and meetings as required. 16. Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees. Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy. 17. Maintains designated certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center. 18.
