Tentative Hire Date of June 8, 2026 JOB RESPONSIBILLITIES: Assists with admission process by taking initial vital signs, measurements, weights, orienting patient/family to unit, hospital facilities and services, and documenting per unit standards. Assists RN in delivery of patient care according to unit standards, policies and procedures, and patient’s plan of care. Contributes relevant and appropriate information to RN. Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Supports the Patient Bill of Rights. a. Participates in meeting and reinforcing patient’s educational needs and documents accordingly. b. Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique. Under direction of RN, monitors and accurately records patient intake and output. Reports changes in patient’s status (e.g., changes in vital signs, level of consciousness, weight, mobility status, comfort level, feeding pattern or any unusual occurrences) to RN in a timely manner. Under direction of RN, assists patient with routine activities of daily living: feeding, bathing, ambulating, and skin care according to policy and documents appropriately. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills appropriate to the age, type, and development level of patients. With RN supervision, performs basic nursing procedures (starting IV’s, NG tube placement, etc.) per Delegation of Patient Care Activities Policy. May not administer medication. Performs nursing assessment, for learning purposes, in conjunction with the licensed RN who performs an independent assessment and provides validation/co-signature of documentation. Assists RN with discharge planning and patient education under direct RN supervision. Provides and documents patient treatments under RN supervision. Provides emotional support to patients and families and documents appropriately. Attends and participates in unit related in-services, conferences, and meetings. Collaborates by working with others to achieve unit and organizational goals. Utilizes proper chain of command for resolution of difficult issues. Participates in unit staff meetings and CQI plan to improve organizational performance and achieve unit and organizational goals. Performs other related duties as assigned. JOB SUMMARY Assist the nursing staff by performing assigned duties to help patients meet the activities of daily living, collect specimens, vital signs, and other related data and assists in communication of patient/family needs to the nurse or other team members. Performs patient care activities/treatments for which basic competency has been documented under the supervision of an RN. The activities include skills verified by faculty of the nursing program and documented on the school’s skills checklist.
