Registered Nurse

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

Provides nursing care to patients in an efficient, professional, compassionate and caring manner. Directs the activities of paraprofessional as they provide care. Responsible for assuring effective communication with patients, support persons and members of the healthcare team. Responsible for implementing nursing care of assigned patients via the Nursing Process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Unit Specific Requirements:

AC / PAT/ PACU RN


MAIN FUNCTION:

 

To assess, evaluate, implement, collect data, document, monitor, administer pre and post operative medications to all surgical patients. Directs the care delivered by others in AC/PAT/PACU. Assist with physicians with procedures. Prioritize care for all types of surgical patients.

 

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • ACLS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position
  • PALS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position
  • Minimum of 1 year critical care experience

 

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

Cardiac Cath/Special Procedure Lab

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

 

Also, functions independently in the Cath Lab/Special Procedures holding room and provides nursing care in a calm, efficient manner. Admits and discharges patients. Provides pre-procedure teaching and assures physician orders are done prior to procedure. Recovers post-procedure patients according to dept policy and accurately follows physician post-procedure orders. Assists in transferring specific patients to other hospitals directly from the holding room. Provides follow-up care by phoning patients next day. Provides nursing support in other areas if needed (CT for biopsies).

Keeps patients safe & calm while assisting physicians in cardiac cath/special procedures and related interventional procedures. Functions independently in the lab while using professional judgment in performance of services. Accurately & promptly implements physician's orders. Scrubs, circulates & records all cases done in the lab & helps to recover patients. Acts in compliance with hospital policies/procedures. Provides care to patients in a calm, efficient manner.

 

 

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in cardiovascular medications
  • BLS and ACLS certification and maintain both while in this role
  • For new hires into the cath lab, must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes

Other Position Expectations

  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and operation of temporary pacemakers and Intra- Aortic Balloon Pumps

Cardiac Rehab Nurse

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

 

Collaborates with the exercise physiologist to prescribe and monitor exercise workloads and target heart rates appropriate to each individual during each exercise session. Monitors and records vital signs during exercise sessions. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team to monitor compliance and appropriately manage symptoms. Develops teaching curriculum in conjunction with Nutrition Services, Sleep Clinic, and the exercise physiologist including lectures, videos, class participation and patient educational materials.

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • ACLS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position
  • Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions

Emergency Dept Staff RN

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

 

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents the care of emergently ill medical and surgical patients of all ages. Assists with special procedures. Prioritizes the care of critically ill and less acutely ill patients. Directs the care delivered by others in the ED.

  • TNCC ( completion of Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum)

Float Registered Nurse- Float A (Inpatient and Peds Unit), Float B (Inpatient, Peds, and ED Units), Float C (Inpatient, Peds, ED and ICU Units).

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

 

Float staff will be assigned to one unit director for performance evaluation, but will also be responsible to management team where they are assigned each shift. Float staff may be pulled to different units during any given shift, depending where the staffing needs must be met. Float staff may be assigned to any area when needed and will take assignments within the scope of their skills and experience. Float nurses will be expected to take pediatric patients. In the ED, float nurses will be expected to provide care of patients from various types of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life threatening conditions. In ICU, float nurses will be expected to manage critical care patients within the scope of the unit. Float staff will be expected to maintain competency in main assigned departments for their float group. Float staff will be expected to attend some of the assigned department staff meetings and/or read the meeting minutes.

MAIN FUNCTION:

Provides nursing care in patients’ homes on a skilled, intermittent basis. Coordinates patient care with other disciplines, PT,OT, Home Health Aide, Speech Therapy and Social Worker to ensure that patient meets their goals. Follows Medicare Condition of Participation requirements in delivering patient care.

Provides acute stroke care per protocols of the WCH designated stroke unit. Assists with special and invasive bedside procedures. Directs the care delivered by others in the department. Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for transfer out of critical care environment. Accepts med surg and telemetry overflow patients as necessary. Communicates effectively with the intraprofessional team and families.

 

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • ACLS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position
  • 1 year current hospital nursing; New graduates only with completion of critical care preceptorship or current Nurse tech position
  • Complete NIH Stroke Certification with 6 months and maintain while in position

Procedural Nurse

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

 

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents the care of patients undergoing radiological procedures, and/or recovery of cardiac cath lab patients. Function independently within multiple Imaging modalities, circulating, documenting, performing moderate sedation and ensuring patient safety while assisting physician in procedures. Duties include but are not limited to: admission/discharge of patients, pre and post procedure monitoring/instruction, completion of physician orders, and recovery of patients post procedure according to organizational policy.

Additionally, preforms follow-up call to procedural patient’s day after procedure. Provides nursing support to other areas as needed.

Progressive Care Registered Nurse

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

 

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents the care of medical and surgical adolescent/adult patients with a cardiac focus. Assists with special procedures. Directs the care delivered by others in the department. Designated stroke unit. Accepts med surg overflow patients as necessary. Recovers cardiac cath/special procedure patients. Provides care for patients on intravenous vasoactive medications (step down patients).

 

 

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cross train and maintain competency to Step-down Nursing within 1 year
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position
  • Complete NIH stroke certification within 6 months and maintain while in position

 

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions.

SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)

 


 

MAIN FUNCTION:

Provides timely and accurate collection of forensic evidence in sexual assault cases. Collaborates with physicians, local law enforcement, county prosecutors and survivor advocate to maintain chain of evidence.

 

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1 year current experience as a RN
  • Availability for on-call rotation including weekend and holiday coverage with a maximum response time of 60 minutes

  • Successful completion- of SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) training- mandatory within 1 year
  • Excellent assessment and crisis intervention skills

Women’s Pavilion

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

The RN focuses on all facets of perinatal care. Women’s Pavilion employees care for patients and their families during the antepartal, intrapartal and pospartal periods, taking in to consideration their age, growth, developmental and emotional needs.

Wound Center RN

 


MAIN FUNCTION:

Under supervision of Clinical Nurse Manager, performs primary function of RN in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patient in the Wound Center. Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing of patients under the supervision and orders of a hyperbaric physician

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents care of the skilled nursing resident and rehab with nursing. Use assessment skills to develop rehab goals.

Dialysis RN


MAIN FUNCTION:

The Dialysis RN is responsible for conducting inpatient hemodialysis treatments in coordination with the Dialysis Program Coordinator and nephrology. In this role, the individual will utilize policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective hemodialysis treatment as prescribed by the nephrologist. The Dialysis RN will communicate and report patient concerns, and changes with the clinical team, to include physicians and the Dialysis Program Coordinator, in a timely manner. The Dialysis RN is responsible for collaboration with the Staff RN through pre and post reporting to ensure safe and effective care. In addition, the Dialysis RN will provide appropriate patient education, care, and support for renal failure patients.

 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Critical Care, Dialysis Coordinator

 

 

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

• Current Ohio RN licensure

• 1 year Acute or 2 years Chronic dialysis RN experience 

• American Heart Association BLS
