Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and coordinates health services for assigned service sites and supervises the delivery of Licensed Practical Nurse services and Licensed Practical Nurse personnel
  • Assist the operation in the implementation of facility-based medical quality assurance programs
  • Provides training services as needed to staff including but not limited to medication administration, signs and symptoms of illness
  • Provides direct care services as needed, including, but not limited to, passing medications and monitoring individual health status
  • Facilitate communication and serve as a liaison between and among nursing staff, nursing and direct care staff, the work site and community medical providers, professional consultants and direct care in cooperation with Operations management
  • Provide feedback to Operations management with regard to necessary changes and revisions
  • Ensures assigned staff are evaluated fairly and timely in accordance with Company performance evaluation procedures
  • Assure all assigned staff receive training and supervision as needed to meet performance expectations
  • Coordinate and oversee all activities associated with medical contract providers
  • Oversee/participate in the hiring process of all assigned positions in accordance with Company policy and local, state, and federal employment law
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must have related nursing management/supervisory experience.

Education:

  • At least three years an Licensed Practical Nurse with supervisory experience or a bachelors degree from an accredited school of nursing.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification

As an LPN in the birthing center, you will serve as the Cord Blood Coordinator, responsible for reviewing patient records to identify candidates, obtaining consent, collecting specimens, entering and managing data, communicating with the Cleveland Cord Blood Center and maintaining the environment and supplies in accordance with regulatory standards. In this role, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes while further developing your nursing expertise through direct clinical experience and the extensive educational resources available within the Cleveland Clinic system. As part of these efforts, Cleveland Clinic has established a partnership with the Cleveland Cord Blood Center to facilitate access to potentially life-saving cord blood for transplantation. A caregiver in this role works nights from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. with weekend requirements. This position’s primary location is at Fairview Hospital but may require cross-coverage at Hillcrest Hospital as needed. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Obtain informed full consent of mother and maternal medical history and infant/delivery Data. Label and prepare cord blood for courier transport to Cleveland Cord Blood Center with signed consent form and samples of blood. Answer questions about public donation of cord blood. Assist Obstetric MD/DO in collecting umbilical cord blood units (CBU) during final phase of labor. Provide obstetricians with all materials needed for cord blood collection. Obtain peripheral blood (PB) for infectious disease testing from the donating mother. Collect, document and report patient data and observations. Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions. Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions. Perform routine laboratory tests. Educate patients and family members.
