How you make a difference The Travel Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight of nursing services by planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing programs across multiple facilities as needed to fill vacancies. This role ensures nursing practices comply with contractual obligations, accreditation standards, and state regulations while maintaining consistent quality of patient care. The position coordinates staffing, scheduling, orientation, training, and continuing education for nursing personnel in collaboration with the Health Services Administrator. The Travel Director of Nursing actively participates in quality improvement, infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, and risk management activities, ensuring required reports and follow-up actions are completed timely. This role serves as a liaison between nursing services, medical providers, facility leadership, and external agencies while remaining visible, responsive, and available for on-call nursing emergencies. About this role The RN Travel supports patient care delivery through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of Charge Nurses. They participate in care planning, emergency response, and interdisciplinary communication. The role requires 100% travel to various locations to fulfill staffing needs. Additional Details This is a position for our Wellpath West Travel team. Team member must have a multi state license, be willing to get licensed in California, and be a current Wellpath employee in good standing OR an external candidate with at least one year recent corrections experience. Shifts are variable - depending on the needs of the site that week. Travel is on Wednesday, then working 12 hour shifts Thursday - Tuesday, return home on Wednesday with the next six days off. $50/hr, travel time, and travel arrangements paid, meals reimbursed up to max with receipt.
