Job Title:     Lead LVN Regional Nurse Educator and Clinical Supervisor 

Reports to:     Nurse Manager, Clinical Operations Director & CMO 


Summary:     The Lead LVN Regional Nurse Educator and Clinical Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and developing the following key performance areas: clinical practice, education and research, quality improvement and management, professional practice and development within scope of practice.

Major Responsibilities 

    Welcomes new employees to the team by assisting with their orientation to the Exer Urgent Care Clinic and mentoring them, as requested.

    Trains and onboards new clinical team members, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful caregivers within their scope of practice.

    Initiates clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical and preceptorship models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.

    Provides direct specialized nursing services to patients, providing specialized patient care within nursing protocols and assisting in the performance of all related nursing duties within the Licensed Vocational Nurse scope of practice.

    Assists in developing clinical policies and procedures as it relates to evidenced based patient care, incorporating evidenced-based research and national standards; consults with and serves as a clinical resource for management to ensure quality patient care.

    Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

    Educates nurses and patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.

    Assists in collaborative evaluation of licensed vocational nursing and patient care staff through periodic audits and inspections to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

    Works collaboratively with clinic managers to identify clinical knowledge deficiencies, and conducts remedial and refresher training of clinical team members and clinic managers, as needed.

    Reports knowledge or skills deficits observed by any patient care staff which could potentially or actually lead to negative patient outcomes or compromise patient safety immediately to clinic managers.

    Provides Clinic Manager’s, Nurse Manager, Clinic Operations Director and Chief Medical Officer constructive suggestions for clinical improvement.

    Monitors clinical skill performance, documentation and professional communication by clinical staff.

    Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications 

    Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within area of nursing expertise.

    Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to nurse and patient care staff in the urgent care setting.

    Knowledge of medical and laboratory related accreditation and certification requirements.

    Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop reasonable curricula.

    Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs.

    Technical leadership skills within area of expertise.

    Advanced nursing skills related to the urgent care specialty within the LVN scope of practice.

    Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care staff programs.

    Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.

    Current Licensed Vocational Nurse in good standing within the organization 

    Current Licensed Vocational Nursing License in the State of California

    IV / Phlebotomy Certified

    Current ACLS, PALS, BLS

    Current Medi-Waste Training for: Bloodborne Pathogens for Healthcare, GHS Hazcom, HIPAA, HITECH & Omnibus


Working Conditions 

Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs. 

Travel – up to 75%
