The Full Time Registered Nurse ( RN ) Supervisor Double Weekend is responsible to supervise and coordinate activities of nursing personnel, make staffing adjustments as necessary. They are responsible to assist and delegate in clinical nursing decisions throughout building while fulfilling the role of Acting Administrator in the absence of facility administration. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR A REGISTERED NURSE (RN) SUPERVISOR DOUBLE WEEKEND:

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel engaged in specific nursing services on each of the nursing units.

  • Staffs each unit to reflect staffing needs in accordance with facility staffing policy.

  • Participates with the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing in the development and implementation of the philosophy and objectives for nursing service.

  • Supervises Charge Nurses in carrying out their responsibilities in the management of nursing care.

  • Inspects unit areas to verify that resident/patient needs are met.

  • Completes nursing records and facility documentation (including paperwork as assigned).

  • Participates in and makes recommendations for disciplinary action for staff. Assists with/completes performance evaluations on direct care staff in consultation with the Unit Manager/Charge Nurse.

  • Functions in the role of Registered Nurse: Charge Position if required.

  • Reports all cases of alleged violations involving mistreatment, neglect or abuse, including injuries of unknown sources.

  • Responsible for safety in area of supervision.

  • Appropriate rounds on all nursing units.

  • Oversees accountability of assignment sheets, documentation, medication and direct resident care issues.

  • Admits or delegates admissions of new residents/patients.

  • Determines necessity of calling physician.

  • Delegates, assists and reviews shift-to-shift reports.

  • Communicates all tour of duty activities to management on next shift.

  • Assist resident to participate in individual activities of choice (i.e.; set of equipment, positioning assistance, providing sufficient lighting and space).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF A REGISTERED NURSE (RN) SUPERVISOR DOUBLE WEEKEND:

  • Requires movement throughout entire facility.

  • Able to bend, lift, transport equipment and residents.

REGISTERED NURSE (RN) SUPERVISOR DOUBLE WEEKEND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have valid REGISTERED NURSE (RN) State License NY

  • Skilled Nursing Experience Preferred

The Registered Nurse ( RN ) Supervisor Assists the Director of Nursing; plans, develops, organizes and coordinates day-to-day functions of the nursing department.

Registered Nurse ( RN ) Supervisor Major Duties and Critical Tasks:

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and directs nursing services for residents on the floor assigned.

  • Ensures compliance with current applicable federal, state and local regulations and facility policies and procedures.

  • Reviews complaints and grievances made or filed by staff. Makes appropriate reports to the Director of Nursing as required or as necessary.

  • Ensures an adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc., is always maintained on the unit to adequately meet the needs of the resident and notifies appropriate personnel of needs.

  • Assists in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident.

  • Makes nursing/aide assignments as indicated.

  • Encourages staff to attend and participate in outside training programs and schedules times as appropriate.

Registered Nurse ( RN ) Supervisor Education and Experience:

  • A nursing degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing direct care in long-term care, restorative or geriatric settings as an

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a nursing supervisor, preferably in a nursing home setting

  • Current CPR Certification.

  • Must also meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license.
