Responsibilities

Attends and actively participates in weekly team meetings
Provides rehabilitation and coordinates medical needs for clients
Medication Monitoring and Administration by oral medication or needle injections
Orders, reviews, monitors, and discontinues medications as ordered by the physician
Assists with keeping within assigned nursing budget
Conducts assessments and approves plan of care and service delivery methods
Performs competency and skills evaluations on employees who provide direct care
Informs the physician and staff of changes in the client's medical or mental condition and needs
Writes progress notes, summaries, and discharges
Implements the treatment/rehabilitative activities and strategies
Reports significant/major incidents or accidents and notifies proper authorities of circumstances or situations that present possible health hazards
Follows consumer health plans and provides and promotes consumer choice and facilitate independence
Assists in maintaining and updating nursing, pharmacy, infection control, and health and safety policies and procedures
Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age
Holds a bachelor's degree in nursing or related health and human services field from an accredited college or university OR an RN from an accredited two-year program
Valid driver's license and insurance required

Facilitates effective and efficient transition from Preop to OR and PACU to release Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in moving patients, stretchers, and OR tables to prevent injury to patient and self. Ability to monitor patient as anesthesia wears off and evaluate patient Properly communicates any post-op care instructions to patient Demonstrates knowledge of management of patient, including: being available to anesthesia during intubation and extubation, assisting as needed in sudden changes in patient condition and being readily available to assist as directed. Ensures that H/P, orders for the procedure, and consent form are consistent prior to placing in medical chart. Prepares and administers medications in accordance with current practice (i.e. review physician orders, pre-op antibiotics, preparing/labeling medications on/off field, utilizing the 7 medication rights, identifying high alert medications, conducting independent double checks when indicated, and narcotic waste, etc.). Assures only licensed personnel administer medications. Relays appropriate hand off communication to RN Circulator to ensure continuity of care. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills in the nursing process Demonstrates the ability to utilized recognized channels of communication. Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, coworkers, and other health team members. IV Skills preferred Others duties as assigned by manager Education and/or Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN).
