The Registered Nurse - Outpatient Behavioral Health will provide high quality care to patients and families calling or presenting for mental health needs through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and performs a wide variety of patient care services to assist physicians/advanced practice practitioners in delivering excellent care to patients of the practice. In addition, the RN will provide support to the esketamine and the long-acting injectable clinics. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Certification at the basic level through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an RNC preferred. Experience: Two years of RN experience in a mental health setting, preferable with at least one year in an acute or inpatient setting required. Description Nursing Req #: 55422 This is a Clinical Nurse II vacancy open to candidates with greater than 1 year of RN work experience This is a bargaining unit position Date posted: 11/7/2025 PD/Night (Varies) Unit Bio:P6 (Pavilion 6) is the 21 bed Inpatient Medical Psychiatry unit at Maine Medical Center. Over the years it has evolved from a traditional psychiatric unit to one that serves an increasingly medically complex population with a particular emphasis on Geriatric Psychiatry. All patients on P6 have both a major psychiatric illness, as well as a medical comorbidity that requires an inpatient level of care. We are excited to grow our interdisciplinary team and welcome all applicants from those new to Psychiatry, to those who have many years of experience. Inpatient psychiatry experience preferred. Inpatient geriatric or medical psychiatry experience strongly preferred. Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients’ conditions and to initiate appropriate action. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action. Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families. Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit. The Spring Harbor Child and Adolescent service is a 34 bed, 4-unit, service providing care to youth from throughout Maine. Youth who require acute mental health treatment are typically imminent risk to themselves or others and are unable to receive treatment at a lower level of care due to the severity of their psychiatric symptoms. The Registered Nurse Collaborates As a Member Of The Interdisciplinary Team To Develop And Deliver Each Patient’s Individualized Plan Of Care Utilizing The Nursing Process In An Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Setting. The Multidisciplinary Team Includes Medical Providers, Occupational Therapists, Social Work Clinicians, Behavior Analysts, And Nursing Staff. Commonly Treated Diagnoses Include Depression Disruptive Behavior Disorders Emerging Psychotic Disorders Anxiety Disorders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Substance Use Disorders Unit treatment and programming includes comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, individual and family therapy, occupational therapy interventions, and utilization of positive behavioral incentives and supports. Patients receive on-site academic tutoring and engage in recreational opportunities in the gym, and the outside playground and courtyard areas. Treatment includes dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, milieu activities, and skills-based groups. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
