San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Full-time Registered Nurse to join our Infusion team. This position will provide nursing care to all patients, ensuring adequate care and nursing standards are met.
What you’ll need:
- At minimum, Associates degree in nursing. However, BSN is preferred
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
- Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
- Computer experience required secondary to the electronic medical record
- One year of med/surgical experience preferred.
- Certified in administering chemotherapy medications within six months of hire date.
What you’ll do:
- Knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
- Responsible for assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of care to accepted nursing and hospital standards of care relevant to acute care nursing.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Knowledgeable with safe handling and administering chemotherapy agents on a daily basis.
- Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patients.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
- Responds to all situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
