Job Description

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Infusion team! This is a wonderful opportunity to expand into a high-end outpatient specialty field that continues to grow and evolve. We are looking for an RN who can demonstrate empathy and kindness and who wants to make a difference in the lives of patients. This is an incredibly rewarding specialty where the RN plays an important role contributing to the improvement of outcomes as well as patients’ quality of life. Experienced and new grad nurses should apply who will receive personalized training from a certified oncology nurse. We offer flexible working schedules and assistance with working towards their oncology certification. Duties for the RN will include being responsible for administering antibiotics, biologic infusions, immunotherapy and chemotherapy. The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care to patients and their families following the nursing process, established standards and practices. They will assist physicians and other team members in coordinating patient care and function as a resource for support staff (LPNs an. Medical Assistants).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

Accessing the patient for bloods/chemo via central and peripheral lines
Administration of antibiotics, biologic medications and/or chemotherapy/immunotherapy
Provide initial and ongoing patient education prior to each procedure and drug administration
Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients throughout treatment
Provide monitoring and continued assessment throughout the infusion treatment and report any adverse reactions to physician
Schedules patient according to their treatment regimen
Strong triage skills for patient needs throughout their infusion as well as for patient phone calls
Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Minimum education: Associate Degree; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
Current NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse
ACLS and BLS certified required upon hire
Infusion experience is a plus but we will provide training to an experienced RN or new grad nurse.
ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification or will assist candidate to obtain certification within 6-9 months after hire.
Med Surg/Hospital experience preferred but not required
Strong computer skills, EMR experience is a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range: $43.61 - $54.52 Hourly

The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.

Essential Job functions : Demonstrates critical thinking to assess and meet the needs of patients by providing care coordination throughout the cancer continuum beginning with the diagnosis of cancer through survivorship and/or end of life. Assesses patient needs upon initial encounter and periodically throughout navigation, matching unmet needs with appropriate services and referrals and support services, such as dietitians, providers, social work and financial services. Adheres to key touchpoints for navigation (attached) including introduction to navigation at time of cancer diagnosis, post-operative care planning, follow up care and survivorship. Orients and educates patients, families, and caregivers to the cancer healthcare system, multidisciplinary team member roles and available resources. In collaboration with other members of the health care team, build partnerships with local agencies and groups that may assist with cancer patient care, support, or educational needs. Identifies potential and realized barriers to care (e.g. transportation, childcare, elder care, housing, language, culture, literacy, psychosocial, employment, financial, insurance) and facilitates referrals as appropriate to mitigate barriers. Participates in coordination of the plan of care with the multidisciplinary team, promoting timely follow-up on treatment and supportive care recommendations. Obtains, develops and coordinates the availability of oncology-related educational materials for patients, staff, and community members as appropriate. Orders materials as needed to ensure inventory.
