Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Summary:

As the Diagnostic Imaging Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be responsible for, functioning as office nurse and helping to maintain a smooth operation of the daily routine by performing a variety of clinical duties to allow quality time between patient and physician. Monitoring and managing medications, patient rooms, State vaccines, medical equipment and supplies, laundry, education booklets and information. Providing management of assigned doctors' and/or nurse practitioners' patients, i.e., callbacks, and test results, under their specific directions.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists their provider by documenting chief complaint, essential data, i.e., height, weight, blood pressure, head circumference.
  • Maintains an even distribution of patients for the assigned nurse practitioner or pediatrician and keeps the assigned rooms properly supplied of medical, as well as educational material.
  • Assist patients to Xray, lab or ED when needed. Set up Nebulizer treatments and monitors patient.
  • Responsible for documentation in medical record and completion of school or camp forms.
  • After consultation with provider, reinforces education and health information with parent/guardian/patient.
  • Answers a variety of medical questions or refers them to the doctor or nurse practitioner when necessary.
  • Ability to accurately record messages and follows identified protocols regarding health concerns/issues and follows up with provider as necessary.
  • Assists physician or nurse practitioner in emergency situations and prepares the proper equipment for the procedure.
  • Assists in minor procedures such as PKU, sutures, catheterization as needed by physician. Responsible for immunization, allergy shots and documents same in proper areas.
  • Obtain strep cultures of patients and documents and gets culture to Lab in a timely manner.
  • Secure all exam rooms, lab rooms; restock with supplies on a daily basis.
  • Retrieve special orders from Lab and X-ray when provider requests.


Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Current license to perform as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Connecticut required.
  • High School Diploma Required - College Course Preferred
  • Two years as Licensed Practical Nurse in hospital or office setting required
  • Licensed Practical Nurse Degree Required
