We are expanding with a new one-million-square-foot, 15-floor state-of-the-art facility on Main Campus, bringing all phases of neurological care under one roof. The building will support advanced treatment for complex conditions such as brain tumors, spine injuries, epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, and stroke, with dedicated spaces for outpatient care, surgery, ICU, epilepsy monitoring, and expanded diagnostic and ambulatory services. The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) frequently assumes patient assignments while serving as a clinical expert and key resource for inpatient operations, staffing support, clinical decision-making, and issue resolution across the unit. Our H60 Neuroscience Unit is a highly specialized inpatient unit caring for patients with a broad range of neurological conditions, including stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, brain and spine tumors, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis, degenerative brain diseases, and complex spinal disorders, offering caregivers exceptional versatility and exposure.
The ideal candidate is a recognized clinical expert and trusted resource for staff, with experience floating into neurology units or working in a stroke-focused environment. A strong passion for neurological care is essential, with preference given to candidates who have worked in stroke units or participated in neurology-focused education or conferences, such as AANN.
A caregiver in this position works nights, from 7:00pm - 7:30am. Options may include 3×12s, 4×10s, or a combination. Occasional weekend and holiday coverage required, coordinated collaboratively with other ANMs for coverage
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.
Provide patient care.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.
Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.
Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
2 years of acute inpatient nursing experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Neuro nursing experience
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
