Responsibilites

Manage daily medications and ensure they are given to residents.

Record medication dosages and times given.

Observe patients and document any changes.Accessing Medication Administration Record (MAR)to verify the right person,drug, dose ,route and time against the residents record.

Appropriately documenting vital signs, or other pertinent data related to medication administering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Accurately prepare, administer and document medications as prescribed. Immediately report any errors to Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing. • Accurately take and record vital signs • Accurately count and sign medication administration record for controlled drugs. • Observe all residents and report anything unusual or abnormal to Charge Nurse. Ability to safely care for residents in a patient and respectful manner despite some resident's lack of cooperation and/or combativeness. • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance in accordance with facility absence policies. • Perform Nurse Aide duties, as directed. Medication Aide

Arrive to shift on time (Available Shifts 6-2 , 2-10 PM) (WITH 30 minute Lunch Break) MUST be certified! Narcotic count must be done with morning nurse and in the evening with 2-10 nurses for accuracy and holes in MAR. Medication pass must be done, within the time schedule 1 hour before or 1 hour after If discrepancy found in the MAR notify Charge nurse IMMEDIATELY When missing medications in the cart, 1st check medication room, if not found, must be reported to nurse and called to pharmacy. ALL this must be documented in 24hr report. Re-order medications, check medication for expiration dates, if expired removed from med cart and place in Discontinue box in medication room Refresh Ice during your shift in the dietary department. (Water pitcher dated with current date) Organize medication storage room 3 x weeks. Assigned days will be posted. Assist with feeding during meal times (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) Before end of shift review ALL MAR's for HOLES And any other duties as assigned *Remember to prevent medication errors and drug diversions. Failure to follow duties will lead to a counseling and possible termination if further re-occurrences.
