Works with the Maintenance Supervisor to develop a preventive maintenance program for unit equipment, to ensure that equipment is safe to use and in good operating condition. Responsible for the financial management of the Skilled Nursing Facility through efficient scheduling practices, monitoring of overtime, utilization of temporary agency staff, and monitoring of supply/equipment utilization. Reviews complaints and grievances made by the resident. Assists Assistant Directors of Nursing in addressing resident/family concerns/issues as needed. Develops a written report, which defines what action was taken to resolve the complaint or grievance. Follows facility procedures and regulatory requirements in addressing/documenting resident complaints. Reports and investigates all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property in accordance with Ohio Department of Health rules. Provides regular feedback to the Administrator about issues related to areas of responsibility. Makes written reports/recommendations concerns operations of the Health Care units as needed. Maintains a reference library of written nursing material that will assist the unit in meeting the day-to-day needs of the resident, including current medication reference sources, rules and regulations, and Ohio references. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises Assistant Directors of Nursing, Shift Supervisors and Unit Clerk. Directs staff in the Skilled Nursing Facility. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Previous long term care and management experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret common health care related and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents and government regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to individuals and small groups including residents, employees, top management staff. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to read and interpret financial reports.
