Nurse Manager Ambulatory Surgery - GI Lab Endoscopy

POSITION SUMMARY

The Ambulatory Surgery Nurse Manager is fully engaged in providing No Harm/ Quality, memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Stewardship by planning, organizing, managing, and evaluating quality clinical and support services for the assigned Ambulatory Surgery Center. The alignment with, and accomplishments of, the Surgery Center’s philosophy and objectives measure the safety, quality, and memorable experiences received by patients and others from the department. The Ambulatory Surgery Nurse Manager attends and reports regularly at Medical Staff and Quality meetings. 


PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Maintains current knowledge and skill in surgical clinical practice and management.

2. Works to meet or exceed all key performance indicators on the departmental performance scorecard.

3. Maintains oversight of payroll activities for department.

4. Reviews and ensures standards are met for licensure and accreditation reviews by maintaining departmental preparation.

5. Assesses delivery of care and patient outcomes through rounds, committees, quality assessments, performance improvement activities, and community surveys to ensure positive patient experience and quality patient care.

6. Promotes, plans, and implements multi-disciplinary collaboration to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.

7. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies/procedures.

8. Defines educational needs and actively supports staff development activities.

9. Manages and supports efforts to achieve and revise staffing standards including periodic review of staffing patterns, recruitment and retention programs, and staff utilization.

10.Communicates consistently and regularly with all staff to keep them informed.

11.Participates in the identification and development of lean projects to reduce waste and non-value added activities and processes.

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred. 

• Licensure: Current, active State of Florida RN license or endorsement. 

• Certification: Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider prior to start and maintain

• Work Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant clinical experience

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

o Excellent oral and written and interpersonal communication skills.

o Knowledge of applicable accrediting organizations and standards (AHCA, TJC, AAAHC, etc.)

o Ability to interpret and deal with complex situations

o Ability to respond to appropriately to dissatisfied customers.

o Ability to function in a highly stressful environment

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Moderate)

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently

• Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance 

• May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head

• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift

• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise 

• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.

• Communicating with others to exchange information.

• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks

• Workspace may vary from open to confined.

• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle

Nurse Manager - Operating Room

Job Requirements Position Summary: To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by planning, directing and assessing all unit functions to include evaluation of patient care on a 24-hour basis on an assigned unit. Additional functions include participation in the development of policies and procedures for the Department of Patient Care Services, implementation of Health First policies and objectives, interview and selection of personnel, budget preparation, and cost effective operations, scheduling and assignment of personnel, employee performance appraisals, quality improvement activities, counseling and disciplinary actions as needed, at all times serving as clinical and professional role model to staff and contributing to their professional growth and development. Primary Accountabilities: Quality/No Harm: Utilizing the behavioral interview process, selects staff with qualifications that are appropriate to the needs of the unit. Clinical standards are met within three months of employment. Conducts disciplinary conferences for individuals not following hospital policy/procedure or whose actions necessitate corrective action. Documents individual counseling and disciplinary actions with employee at all times. Conducts timely and periodic performance appraisals based on pre-established standards. Ensures competence and education of associates in designated field.
