Job Summary:
The nursing assistant (STNA) is responsible for providing direct care to residents, assisting the clinical team in providing activities of daily living for the residents and works under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This person works in accordance with facility policies and procedures and report resident needs to concerns to a licensed nurse.

Responsibilities and major duties:
1. Timely and accurately document all resident related activities in accordance with facility policy.
2. Ensure timely notification of resident related information, including changes in resident condition (example: weight loss, skin condition changes), to a licensed nurse for further direction.
3. Successfully assist all responsible residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s). including but not limited to feeding, bathing, dressing, transferring, ambulation, loco motion, personal hygiene, toileting.
4. Obtain labs/vitals as directed by licensed nurse.
5. Observe infection control and safety procedures.
6. Attend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings, educational meeting/in-services and all other meetings related to employment.
7. Assist with and participate in all resident activities to facilitate a home-like environment for the residents within assigned facility.
8. Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
9. Respectfully engage and welcome all visitors, guests and family members within the facility.
10. Ensure s safe and sanitary living environment for residents.
11. Adhere to all infection control policies within the assigned facility.
12. Ensure the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process is followed in accordance to State & Federal Guidelines.
13. Follow Residents Rights policies at all times.
14. Adhere to all facility policies & procedures.
15. Ensure adherence to the Corporate Integrity Program and the Performance Expectations at all times.
16. Perform other related duties as directed by Director of Nursing and/or person of authority.


Position Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Ability to obtain and maintain State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification required. High School Diploma/GED preferred. 1 year of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or STNA preferred. Ability to read/write/comprehend the English language in written & verbal form required. Ability to communicated both verbally and non-verbally required.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification:
Valid STNA certification to work within a long term care facility within the State of Ohio. Dependable transportation required. CPR certification preferred.

Responsibility for Patient Care:
Responsible for promoting independence and assisting all residents with their ADL’s.

Computer:
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail and basic internet usage.

Leadership Responsibilities:
None.

Responsibility for confidential matters:
Works regularly with some information such as medical records or reports and records that are restricted to specific persons. Must comply with confidentiality policy.

 

Environmental and working conditions

May be exposed to heat and cold in all weather conditions. Works regularly under desirable conditions with little or no disagreeable features.   Distractions are frequent.
