General Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
  • Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
  • Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
  • Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
  • Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
  • Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
  • Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

  • Education: Associate Degree Nursing Or Nursing Diploma.
  • Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; *ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The registered professional nurse (CAP RN 1) position is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program for Registered Nurses. The CAP RN 1 is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment planning intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. As a member of the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) health care team the CAP RN 1 participates in decision-making teaching leadership functions and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy procedures standards of nursing practice state and federal regulations. Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Clinical Manager (CM) and with the guidance from the Educator Preceptor or a CAP RN 2 3 4 or 5 for the first 6 months of employment.
