Candidate Requirements:

    Miami, FL Full-Time Anesthesia Unit Summary The Nurse Anesthetist administers anesthesia under medical direction for diversified surgical cases, utilizing inhalation, intravenous, spinal or rectal agents. Emphasis in the work is on skilled application of appropriate professional techniques, constant review of anesthetized patients' condition during surgery, and completion of remedial measures to counteract unfavorable clinical conditions. Incumbents are also responsible for immediate preoperative and postoperative care of patients in the introduction of and recovery from anesthesia. Work is performed in accordance with recognized professional principles and techniques. All procedures and techniques utilized during anesthesia for surgery are subject to supervision by the Attending Anesthesiologist assigned to that area. Responsibilities Participates and accurately documents patients pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation. Formulates a patient-specific plan for anesthesia care in collaboration with attending anesthesiologist. Implements, monitors and adjusts patients physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patients needs. Recognizes abnormal patient response to anesthesia and adjunct medications; takes appropriate action. Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment by prioritizing and implementing corrective action based on the situation. Provides observation, monitoring and resuscitation of patients in route to recovery room or to special care unit according to protocol. Provides concise comprehensive anesthesia report to recovery room or unit nurse according to protocol. Transfers the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety. Supports operating room procedures. Keeps patient informed of their medical condition and the course of treatment being prescribed. Functions independently in executing the day to day operational and administrative management duties / responsibilities in the absence of the Chief CRNA. Participates in additional areas of responsibility, which are within the expertise of the individual CRNA.
