As Angiography Specialist RN, you will assist with various patient care activities within the Interventional Radiation Unit. You will gain hands-on experience in image guided procedures, offering a unique opportunity to enhance your specialty knowledge and training. In this role, you have endless avenues to explore the Radiology Department, learn valuable anatomy terminology and hone your nursing skills.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Complete assessment of health status of patient scheduled to undergo radiology procedures.
- Obtain pre-procedure lab information and a history related to the chief complaint of the patient prior to angiography procedure.
- Notify the responsible physician and technologists about findings and concerns needing attention before, during and following the radiology procedure.
- Collaborate with Radiologists, referring physicians and staff members to provide optimal care of patients and families.
- Document patient care.
- Provide conscious sedation and monitoring to patients undergoing interventional procedures as specified by the hospital conscious sedation policy and procedure.
- Administer medications to patients while in the Radiology Department as needed.
- Assist Radiologist in performing breast localizations, chain cystograms and any other procedures as requested by the radiologist.
- Monitor narcotic control for department and emergency resuscitation equipment in angiography suite and diagnostic area.
- Provide pre and post radiology procedure education to patients and families.
- Monitor quality assurance performance and infection control practices for Radiology.
- Serve as a liaison between patient, Radiologist and other members of the health care team.
- Identify problems or potential problems and initiate appropriate action.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Critical care experience and/or strong neuro nursing background
- Experience with moderate sedation
- Procedural RN experience
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
- Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
