Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant Occ Health

The Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physican Assistant (PA) Occuptional Health works in collaboration with providers to assess, plan and provide patient care, within the scope of the provider license.  This position orders, interprets and records results of clinical tests and reports results to the provider.  The NP/PA also prescribes medication and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment.

 

Essential Functions

- Obtains, compiles and records patient medical data within the scope of practice identified by their Advanced Practice license.

- Manages and treats work-releated injuries and illnesses, providing immediate care and coordinating further treatment as necessary.

- Investigates workplace accidents and incidents to identify causes and recommend preventative measures.

- Collaborates with leadership to develop policies and procedures that ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

 

Other Duties

 

- Contributes to the development of new services, programs, or processes.

- Administers and/or orders diagnostic test pertinent to the patients’ need.

- Participates in departmental and hospital wide informational meetings and inservices, including staff meetings, hospital wide forums, and seminars.

- Reviews department and hospitalwide policies and procedures annually.

- Maintains national certification and Advanced Practice degree by completing continuing education hours as requred by the applicable certifying body.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

- Works under the direction of the Supervising Physician (SP).

- Meets with SP on a weekly, if not daily, basis to review, report and implement forms of patient care/treatment.

- Participates in educational training initiated or provided by the SP.

- Licensed Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA).

- CPR/BLS Certification (within 30 days of hire date).

- Medical Examiner Certification for Department of Transportaion (within 2 months of hire).

- Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) certification,

- Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screening certification.

- Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (CAOHC) certification (within 6 months of hire).

- Pulmonary Function Test by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) certification (within 6 years of hire).

 

Preferred Education and Experience

 

- ACLS certification.

- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S).

- 2 – 3 years of Occupational Health or similar experience.

General Position Summary: The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) is a Registered Nurse prepared at the master’s degree level as a nurse practitioner whose focus is the care and management of critically ill and convalescent premature and full-term infants. The NNP works collaboratively members of the health care team to provide comprehensive care to ill premature and full-term infants and their families. NNPs work in a variety of settings delivering care and management of infants in areas such as fluid and nutritional requirements, drug addiction, respiratory distress, cardiac defects, metabolic conditions and renal problems.
