Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) upholds the EverTrue mission of "Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest" by providing clinical leadership and oversight of resident care and services.
Job Responsibilities
1. Oversees the operation of nursing care and services and the staff delivering them
2. Promotes the highest standards of excellence in resident care
3. Sets objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department
4. Ensures regulatory compliance and resolves deficiencies when needed
5. Ensures appropriate reporting to outside agencies
6. Delegates to clinical administrative staff as appropriate
7. Collaborates with other departments and professionals to streamline operations to maintain a safe, comfortable, and functional environment
8. Ensures equipment and supplies are managed appropriately
9. Manages relationships with vendors to assure the highest quality of services are provided
10. Ensures appropriate documentation is entered into the electronic medical records (EMR) system
11. May assume daily operations of the facility in the Administrator’s absence
12. Responsible for achieving satisfactory survey results within each component of the CMS 5-star rating system
13. Responsible for fiscally managing the nursing budget as it relates to supplies, pharmacy and proper care management in accordance with state and CMS regulations
14. Ensures, and may provide, ongoing staff education and competencies to professional and non-professional staff
15. Conducts routine meetings including but not limited to clinical start up, QAPI, Medicare, appropriate care, wound and pharmacy, and nursing; schedules and performs resident/patient rounds to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care; reviews reports and makes recommendations or provides assistance regarding care, treatment, and placement of patients.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Minimum of 5 years nursing experience with 2 years management experience
Current RN licensure in state of practice; B.S. in nursing or related field desired
Must be CPR BLS (basic life support) certified
Extensive knowledge of healthcare legal regulations and best practices
Aptitude for problem solving
Understanding of basic budgeting and financial reporting
Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in nursing specific to older adults
Strong ability to lead and develop staff
Excellent communication and people skills

A well-lighted and ventilated working area that has its own temperature control system (air conditioning and heat). Is subject to emotionally upset residents, or family members. Is willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. Is subject to exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B virus within guidelines of standard precautions. Appropriate ergonomic and personal safety equipment is provided as needed.

Director of Nursing (RN) Tier 3: Grade K, $122,245.00 to $202,200.00. Eligible for shift differentials: No
