Responsibilities Assist with patient care under the direction of physicians. Prepare patients for office visits and procedures. Preforms a variety of patient care activities, such as vaccine/medication administration, phlebotomy, and point of care testing. Provides indirect patient care via phone or EHR by addressing patient questions, processing medication refills and scheduling follow-up appointments. Utilize electronic health record for efficient care. Qualifications One year experience as a clinic back office medical assistant preferred. Education: Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent experience; or Completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces; or Completion of Basic or Advanced Oregon Emergency Medical Technician program (Oregon only) Licensure MA certification required within one year, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). MA certification requirement may be met instead by current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license and national EMT registration (NREMT). Oregon only. Washington State certification as a MA or Interim MA required for all who work or float in Washington. Current BLS for Providers from the American Heart Association. Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care services, determining medical conditions, and preparing patients for examination and treatment under the direction of the Provider. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Prepare patients for examination, records vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under providers orders Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, and analyze and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable in care setting Instructs patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions that will allow the assumption of cross-functional team actions to ensure seamless patient care Phlebotomy Perform opening/closing clinic duties and patient call backs Perform other duties as assigned Requirements and Qualifications: Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
