Description Of Position

  • The MA is responsible for providing provider support as applicable, and comprehensive direct care to patients and their families under the direction of the provider. This position supports the Practice Director and Manager in coordinating and leading practice personnel to ensure consistent standards of practice and competencies in the delivery of patient care services. The position will perform duties within the scope of practice, ensuring consistency with Memorial Medical Group policies and procedures, standards of care, approved protocols, standing orders and guidelines.

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Receives patient from the waiting room and escorts the patient to the exam room.
  • Obtains and records all in-take information in the patient medical record. Records any other department specific information in patient chart. Adheres to all government documentation requirements.
  • Records patient critical lab values, adverse reactions and pertinent information and promptly reports to the provider.
  • Prepares patient and provider with set up and cleanup of procedures.
  • Observes universal precautions and aseptic techniques with patient and the proper use of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Able to perform administrative duties.
  • Assists with patient education in conjunction with the provider.
  • Inventories exam rooms and determines supply needs. Restocks rooms to par level. Conveys needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with the daily cleaning of exam rooms and clinic station areas. Assesses maintenance needs.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Education And Work Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited medial assistant program, preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant, preferred.
  • CPR certification, required.
  • Experience providing administrative duties and clinical care in a physician practice or ambulatory clinic setting, preferred.
  • Computer literacy, required.
  • Broad range of administrative and technical skills in the context of the healthcare environment.
  • Impacts activities in other work areas on a frequent basis and contributes in multiple work areas.
  • Make decisions based on departmental policy.
  • Demonstrates critical thought process and can work independently.
  • Provides feedback to assist with decision making process.
  • Documents detailed information in patient chart.

  • Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time.
