General Summary : The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) demonstrates excellent Customer Service performance. The NNP is a registered nurse who has demonstrated clinical expertise in neonatal nursing, received advanced education and training in the management of high-risk/sick neonates and their families. The NNP is credentialed to function in an expanded nursing role and is responsible for the consistent management of a discreet caseload of neonatal patients with consultation, collaboration and general supervision from an attending physician. All functions are performed within joint medical/nursing standards and protocols, and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The practitioner works in conjunction with the Registered Nurse to provide family-centered care. Must be able to assess, care for, and treat patients in the following categories: Neonatal/ Newborn (Birth - 30 Days) Infant (30 Days) Requirements: Education/Licensure/Certification: Registered nurse, currently licensed in the State of Michigan; BSN, with satisfactory completion of a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program meeting the ANA/AWHONN guidelines for certification as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. State of Michigan Advanced Practice Licensure required. Master’s degree with Neonatal Nurse Practitioner training and certification as described above preferred. Experience preferred/required: Minimum 3 years experience as an RN of which at least two are in a Level III NICU; certification (ANA/AWHONN) as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (within 12 months of program completion if graduate NNP). Demonstrates critical thinking skills as evidenced by ability to perform efficiently in emergent patient situations following established standards. Attends every cesarean section delivery or any vaginal delivery that the delivery nurse feels is necessary for the NNP attendance.
