Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking Per Diem Staff Nurse for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, located in Clinton, New Jersey.

The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols. Functions as a team leader as assigned.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the inmate patient including adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) and their family within the framework established by the correctional system.
Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate-patients.
Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of correctional nursing and the image of the organization.
Adhere to personnel policies to enhance the operation of the health care unit
