About the Position: This position is located within the Department of Family Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. This includes satellite clinics in various locations, along with those located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Typical duty hours are Monday through Friday from 0730-1600.

At Madigan you will practice alongside civilian and military health care experts and experience unique professional opportunties. Our staff serves by caring for our military but are not subject to military requirements. We operate within safe staffing standards - giving you time to provide exceptional care.

Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest on the Puget Sound, in Washington State, Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) is near the city of Lakewood, 10 minutes from Tacoma and 20 minutes from Olympia, the state capitol. JBLM is situated in a key location along Interstate 5, allowing easy access to Seattle, Tacoma, and the welcoming neighboring communities. Although the Army and Air Force missions have changed over the years, one thing has not changed—the natural setting of the base. Responsibilities

DUTIES:

Provide individualized nursing care to patients of all ages based upon the physician’s medical care plan, the nursing assessment, and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient.
Assist the physician with various examinations and diagnostic procedures.
Prepare medications and immunizations for administration.
Perform routine procedures, such as EKGs, eye, throat, nasal and/or wound cultures, dressing changes, ear irrigation, and application of bandages.
Perform specialized procedures such as cardiac stress testing on treadmills or bicycles. Administers necessary medications for echocardiogram bubble studies and stress testing echocardiograms.

Performs other duties as assigned.

No person appointed pending licensure may be retained beyond the probationary period if licensure has not been attained.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below:Experience: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing duties such as assisting professional health care providers with minor medical procedures; providing individualized nursing care; and administering oral medication and immunizations within an outpatient setting. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-04).
