Health First Careers is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our PACU department.


POSITION SUMMARY:

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by demonstrating leadership through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to the standards of professional nursing practice. Nursing care is provided to the individual patient, based upon cultural, spiritual and age specific needs.


Quality/No Harm:

-Demonstrates effective medication administration provided to patients as evidenced by

-Preceptor Observation Tool, Skills Fair Demonstration, and Clinical Practice.

-Demonstrates appropriate delegation and supervision of patient care activities within the healthcare setting.

-Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare team and promotes effective team functioning.

-Utilizes Health First computer systems with regards to order entry, order inquiry, and patient care documentation.

-Demonstrates effective and safe clinical practice as evidenced by Skills Fair demonstration, completion of yearly Competency Assessment, and Age Specific Checklist.

-Coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care based on current evidence based practice.

-Documents all nursing care, change in condition, response to therapy, treatments, procedures and referrals on patient record to meet standards.

-Demonstrates dependability, reliability and flexibility.


Stewardship:

-Uses and cares for equipment and supplies economically.


Customer Experience:

-Provides patient, family, and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care.

-Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual differences.

-Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores

and HCAHPs scores for department/medical center and/or written compliments by patients/others as well as consistent performance of purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report.

Work Experience

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide direct patient care in the PACU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assessing patient needs

- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure safe and effective post-operative care

- Monitor and manage post-operative pain and provide appropriate interventions

- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and discharge instructions

- Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records

- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients

- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards


Qualifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PACU or critical care setting

- BLS and ACLS certifications

- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment

- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays

Collaborates with the education department and nursing leadership teamto effectively transition and support new team members and/or students. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions The professional nurse contributesto the knowledge and skills of others, and the continuous improvement of the quality of health care practice and organizational outcomes. Participates and may lead unit level and/or organizational level committees of nursing practice and performance improvement. Participatesin department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance. Practices efficient use ofsupplies and maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area. Attends staff development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings. Partners with the nursing leadership team to identify professional development needs. Assumes responsibility for one’s own professional development and continuing education. Performs all other duties as assigned Qualifications Education/Training Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department. Licensure/Certification Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLCmultistate RN license Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP required for Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU). Must possess a valid driver’s license and has reliable transportation to travel to perform job duties for Hospital Care at Home In-home nursing Experience 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above. Hospital Care at Home – Two (2) years acute care nursing experience required
