About the Role
OCOM is seeking a skilled and compassionate PRN Pain RN to support our Pain Center and Phase II recovery areas. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the pre-operative and recovery process. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is confident in pain management, post-procedural care, and patient education.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Operative & Pain Management Care

Prepare patients for procedures in accordance with hospital policies

Administer and monitor pain management interventions

Demonstrate strong knowledge of medications, including actions, side effects, and expected outcomes

Assess patients and ensure admission criteria are met

Provide clear education to patients and families regarding procedures and expectations

Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR
-
Respond promptly to emergency situations using ACLS/PALS protocols
-
Maintain supplies, medication safety, and equipment readiness
Phase II Recovery Care

Provide post-procedural and recovery nursing care

Monitor patient recovery and identify potential complications

Operate and troubleshoot recovery area equipment

Deliver clear verbal and written discharge instructions

Perform post-discharge follow-up as directed

Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-centered environment
Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
-
Active Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) license
-
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required prior to clinical start
Experience
-
Minimum of 1 year of hospital nursing experience preferred

Experience in PACU, Phase II, or pain management strongly preferred
Skills & Attributes

Strong clinical judgment and emergency response skills

Proficient in pain management and post-anesthesia recovery care

Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced clinical setting

Physical & Work Environment

Clinical setting with exposure to blood and body fluids

Requires standing, walking, lifting, and frequent computer use

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

Visual and auditory acuity required
