Position Summary:

Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to function as OR RN circulator leading the surgical care team in a variety of specialty services lines.
  • Able to safely assess, administer and monitor patients receiving moderate sedation including ASA classifications.
  • Must be able to interpret cardiac rhythm strips requiring interventions.
  • Maintain aseptic practice and initiates actions necessary to ensure aseptic technique for all surgical situations.
  • Ensures safe and appropriate surgical preps and positioning of patients throughout procedure.

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
  • ACLS within one year of hire/transfer
  • Must complete AORN perioperative 101 modules within 1 year of hire/transfer
  • Six (6) months of Operating Room experience ( If no candidate has the required 6 months of OR experience, the other internal candidates will be considered.)

Preferred:

  • Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent
